Trading drop off

Businesses in Lakes Entrance and surrounding areas reported good trade over Christmas but noted a more dramatic drop off after New Year compared to other years.
Sarah Jenkins from Wyanga Park Winery said they had a good Christmas period, which was better than they expected considering the negativity surrounding the economic forecast.
"It did drop off quickly after the New Year period, but we have the Labour Day weekend and Easter to look forward to," Sarah said.
The winery is also holding a special Valentine's dinner and has put together a mouth watering menu.
"We still have some vacancies for the dinner, which is this evening," Sarah said.
"Once more it was tricky with staff numbers over the holiday season, but they all worked really hard with a smile on their face."
The General at Lake Tyers Beach also enjoyed some busy times over the summer season.
"It was amazing, we have been here for three years now and this was our best season," part owner Steve Franklin said.
