Amy’s 104th

Amy’s 104th

Amy Williams recently celebrated a remarkable milestone - her 104th birthday.
Amy was born on October 26, 1919, in Yorkshire, England. She moved to Rochdale where she went to school and later worked in cotton mills. She loved attending dance classes.
At the age of 20 she moved to Australia on the last passenger ship before the second world war, docking in Melbourne with her boss and some of the workers.
She was to train the Australians in Footscray to work the cotton machines. Through there she met her husband Ralph. In 1942 they were married.
He used to take her dancing, horse riding and to see lots of the country on his motorbike and side car.
Amy loved sewing, knitting and life in general. They moved around Victoria to many places including Beechworth, Browns Plains near Rutherglen before finally settling in Lakes Entrance in 1952.
After four children and later retirement they travelled Australia extensively.
Amy now resides in Opal Aged Care where she celebrated her 104th birthday alongside family and friends.
