Foreshore excitement

It is not only the footbridge area that is receiving some upgrades to attract more visitors to Lakes Entrance, but the Slipway area also has a lot happening.
The Slipway site is finally starting to take shape and will be enjoyed soon enough as an art, hospitality and public gathering place with tiered platforms and an art space, all positioned right on Cunninghame Arm.
The site operated as a slipway for boats from 1948 to 2005 and is now undertaking a major renovation to allow it to become a public space for the community and visitors. The tiered deck is being installed at this moment and there will be renovations to the two historic winch sheds, including an upgrade of onsite power and construction of public amenities. An all-abilities ramp is already in place and resurfacing of the whole area will also take place.
Works have begun on a destination jetty positioned just up from the Slipway, across from the end of Bulmer Street.
Gippsland Ports is installing the new structure, which will have space for at least 10 boats up to 14 metres long to tie up. It is intended for short-term berthing, making it perfect for a quick visit to the slipway, supermarket, cafes or the other shops along the Esplanade.
