The winner of the ‘Great Gippsland Vanilla Slice Bake Off’ has been awarded to Effloresce Metung.
Chef Lilli McCamley pulled away from her competition on Sunday earning a massive 299 votes for her mouthwatering vanilla slice.
The 24-year-old is a passionate pastry chef who has been putting Metung on the map with her delicious sweet treats.
Lilli said she has “always loved vanilla slice since I was a child but found the pastry never had that beautiful golden crisp flakiness that it absolutely needs”.
“I take two days to make my puff pastry from scratch using Gippsland Jersey butter,” she said, hinting at her secret recipe.
“For the custard I use Gippsland Jersey milk and cream and source my free range eggs from our local egg farmer in Metung.”
