Talking all types of timber with Tom

It was a sunny Sunday at the Lakes Entrance market as tourists and locals walked between the variety of stalls set up along the Esplanade.
Curious shoppers were admiring the work of Lake Bunga woodmaker, Tom Russell, whose stall displayed an array of handmade objects meticulously crafted from an array of beautiful timbers.
One woman expressed admiration at the intricacy of a carved jewellery box while another admired the colourful timbers in a chopping board.
Mr Russell, in his mid 60s, watched on with obvious pride.
He has been selling his woodwork at local markets for the past seven to eight years, but his love of working with timber goes back decades.
"I started collecting wood 30 years ago," Mr Russell told the Post.
"I've now got enough wood for three life-times," he said.
