Beware of drink spiking

Police are urging com-munity members to report instances of drink spiking.
Lakes Entrance police are currently trying to confirm one alleged report of a drink being spiked at a commercial premises.
Station Commander, Se-nior Sergeant Matt Jenkins, told the Post: "I would not say it is a 'regular event' as no other reports have been made to police".
"There has been a lot of talk of possible drink spiking on social media in the East Gippsland area," he said.
However, Snr Sgt Jenkins said it was just talk at this stage.
"A lot of people are stating that they know it is happen-ing, who is doing it and what drug is involved," he said.

Warning signs to look out for if you suspect your drink has been spiked:
- Feeling dizzy or faint.
- Feeling ill or sleepy.
- Feeling drunk even if you have only had a little bit of alcohol to drink.
- Passing out.
- Waking up feeling uncomfortable and confused, with memory blanks about the night before.

If you are with people you trust and start to feel some of the warning signs, tell them and ask to be taken to a safe place.
If you do not know the people you are with very well or do not trust them, speak to the venue staff or security.
Police advise anyone who begins to feel unwell to seek medical attention.
