Election Saturday

Election Saturday

The Federal Election is this Saturday, May 21, and the public is reminded that if you are 18 years of age or older it is compulsory to vote.
Lakes Entrance Mechanic’s Hall has been open for pre-poll voting since May 9 and has seen a steady flow of voters flowing through the door.
“We have been getting an average of 350 to 400 people a day and there has rarely been any queues,” the superintendent at the polling booth said.
“There are requirements for those that are entitled to vote early including being outside your enrolled electorate, more than 8km from a polling booth, are travelling, cannot leave workplace, seriously ill, due to give birth, patient in a hospital, religious beliefs, are in prison, are a silent elector or have a reasonable fear for your safety.
