End of an Era wins

End of an Era wins

It was announced last Wednesday that End of an Era: The Last Gippsland Lakes Fishermen  by Lynda Mitchelson-Twigg, representing the Gippsland Lakes commercial fishing Community, was the winner of the Oral History Award at the Victorian Community History Awards.
These awards recognise the work of individuals and organisations that preserve and share Victoria’s history.
End of an Era presented oral histories and photographs that were interpreted for a touring exhibition that tells stories of the last licence holders and their families.
The project started off as a compilation for the archives of the National Library of Australia but it grew after historian, Nikki Henningham, became involved.
Ms Henningham announced on social media that she was very excited about the win.
