Gwenda Roberts turns 100

Although having left the town some time ago, many relatives and older members of the community will be pleased to hear of Gwenda Roberts (nee Dummett) turning 100 years of age last Friday, October 1.
Gwenda’s first visit to the area was with her parents at the age of six weeks.
“My parents had honeymooned at Toorloo Guest House, Lake Tyers, in November 1920 and returned for a holiday the next year,” Gwenda said.
It was quite a journey in those days catching a train to Sale, then a boat and then a wagon.
The Dummetts had relatives in the area with Gwenda’s grandmother and Roy Kent’s grandmother being sisters and they were also related to the Bills family.
