End of an Era nominated

The Victorian Community History Awards are presented by the Public Record Office Victoria and the Royal Historical Society of Victoria to recognise the work of individuals and organisations that preserve and share Victoria’s history.
The shortlist of publications and projects in contention for the 2021 awards has been announced with three of the shortlisted works about Gippsland history, including one from Lakes Entrance.
End of an Era: The Last Gippsland Lakes Fishermen by Lynda Mitchelson-Twigg, representing the Gippsland Lakes Commercial Fishing Community, assisted by Nikki Henningham, Leigh Henningham, Tanya King, Donna Squire and Geoff Stanton, captures the final moments of small scale commercial fishing in the Gippsland Lakes before the fishery closed in April 2020.
Oral histories and photographs were interpreted for a touring exhibition that tells stories of the last licence holders and their families.
Lynda said it was great to be nominated.
