Lanterns light up the night

Lakes Entrance came alive over the weekend for the Lakes Lights Festival, part of the inaugural region-wide East Gippsland Winter Festival, which runs until July 11.
The chilly winter’s night did not  seem to deter  the crowds with over 3000 winter wanderers arriving to see the incredible light and projection displays and twilight market festival.
LEADA’s Business, Tourism  and Events (LEADA-BTE) committee brought the foreshore to life with a winter market featuring food trucks, local restaurant food stalls, market stalls with handmade items, live music and fire pits.
“The night was alive, many of our food stalls had long queues throughout the night with some selling out just at the end of the evening,” LEADA-BTE event coordinator, Matthew O’Donnell, said.
Live music was very popular with performances by Mike Elrington and Olivia Lay bringing another level of atmosphere  to the event.
