Metung market strong

Metung market strong

A Metung house that the ‘For Sale’ sign went up out the front one day was sold the very next in a sign that the market in the popular waterfront haven is booming.
The house, located at 15 Stirling Road, just opposite Howitt Street, and a stone’s throw to the Metung Hotel, was snapped up by a local buyer for $525,000.
Selling agent, Richard Byrne, of King & Heath Real Estate in Metung, described the weatherboard house as “tired” but its sale was an indication of the “positivity in the market”.
The house sold in January on “an agreed offer” but the sale has only just been finalised. Mr Byrne said the Metung market had been doing extremely well in recent months. “We just can’t get enough stock,” he told the Post
In some instances, Mr Byrne said buyers were elevating the original asking price on a property by competing against one another in a bidding war to secure the real estate.
“We thought buyer inquiry might quiet down with school going back, but it’s showing no sign of stopping,” Mr Byrne said.
The property at 15 Stirling Road has been rented by the same tenant for well over a decade and it’s understood the new owner, who bought it as an investment, will likely keep the status quo for the time being.
“It’s all about position, position, position. Being in walking distance to the village resulted in this property not lingering on the market,” Mr Byrne said.
