 Beach netball this weekend

Beach Netball returns to Lakes Entrance’s Main Beach this weekend.
Registrations have been strong despite COVID-19 restrictions, and organisers will ensure players remain safe and able to access sanitisation easily.
“So far we have four under 17, five ladies and eight mixed teams registered,” Lakes Entrance netball
Association’s Kylie Curnow, said.
“We are looking forward to a great weekend after having to postpone and change dates due to bushfires last year. “Beach netball brings visitors and families to town for the weekend. Beach netball is a great way to showcase our area.
“We have a COVID-safe plan in place, all participants will be required to sign in to help with contact tracing, we will have a COVID-safe marshall making sure spectators are using social distancing and hand sanitising measures.”
The competition has been well supported in previous years with players travelling from across Gippsland and west of Melbourne to compete.
In 2019 the uptake in the under 17 competition was particularly popular, while the mixed events allowed for strong inclusion of both male and females.
With modified rules and only four on court at one time, everyone is a shooter.
“It’s great for team building or pre-season training,” Kylie said.
“It’s suitable for all skill levels.”
