The Central Hotel in Lakes Entrance was the scene of a melee on Saturday night after a fight erupted in the sports bar at about 10.30pm.

Security guards ejected a 28-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman after an argument at the bar resulted in punches being thrown.

The man then smashed a glass door with his fist in order to get back into the hotel.

Once inside he allegedly started throwing balls from the pool table at bouncers, who managed to duck, but resulted in more glass being smashed.

Police said security once again managed to evict the man and police arrived to find him covered in blood from cuts to his hand.

He was taken to the Bairnsdale Hospital by ambulance, but the following morning police charged the man and woman with criminal damage.

Police say CCTV footage from the hotel has provided them with invaluable footage of the night’s proceedings.
