Kyle takes on the best

Lakes Entrance Surf Lifesaving Club’s Kyle Ferris has returned from the Gold Coast where he competed in the 2019 Australian Championships on March 30 and 31.

Fifteen-year-old Kyle achieved great results in his first time competing at the national level.

“I would like to thank everyone who got behind me with their support and encouragement,” Kyle said.

Each of the three events he had competed had upwards of 140 competitors.

He placed in the top 50 for the beach sprint and came 21st in the two-kilometre beach run.

Kyle made it to the top 12 in the beach flags before being disqualified for breaking.

He enjoyed the experience and is already looking at qualifying and competing in next year’s titles.

Kyle has been a part of the Lakes Entrance Surf Lifesaving Club for eight years.

Having started out as a nipper, he then went on to complete his Bronze Medallion and is now a volunteer Surf Lifesaver at Lakes Entrance.
